Patty Loveless

Patty Loveless is one of country music’s most critically-lauded singers, with a back- to-basics artistry that has drawn praise and a designation as one of the finest female country singers of her generation. Patty has eight gold albums and four platinum. She won the Country Music Association’s Female Vocalist of the Year award in 1996, her When Fallen Angels Fly was CMA’s Album of the Year for 1995, and she has been a member of the legendary Grand Ole Opry’s cast since 1988. Loveless won an American Music Award in 1989 for Favorite New Country Artist and the ACM award for Top Female Vocalist in both 1996 and 1997. Patty has been nominated for several Grammy Awards, winning one for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals and one in the Bluegrass category.

Loveless began her Nashville career with Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton, traveling into town from Louisville on weekends to perform with them while still in high school. By 1986, she released her first hit single, “Lonely Days, Lonely Nights,” and in 1988 hit the Top 10 twice with “If My Heart Had Windows” and “A Little Bit of Love.” In 1989, Loveless landed her first #1 hit with “Timber, I’m Falling in Love” and a trio of Top 10 singles; “Blue Side of Town,” “Don’t Toss Us Away,” and “The Lonely Side of Love.” She returned to the top of the charts with “Chains” in 1990. More hit singles followed; “On Down The Line,” “I’m That Kind of Girl,” and Hurt Me Bad (In a Real Good Way)” all reached the Top 5. “Blame It on Your Heart” returned Loveless to the #1 spot. When Fallen Angels Fly delivered four Top 10 hits. She reached #1 again in 1996 with “You Can Feel Bad (If It Makes You Feel Better)” and “Lonely Too Long,” Top 5 with “She Drew a Broken Heart” and won that year’s ACM Female Vocalist of the Year Award.

By 2001, Loveless began turning to her Kentucky roots, recrafting her musical style and becoming a formidable force in the neo-traditionalist movement. Blending bluegrass, classic country and mountain songs together, she has now released six albums, winning a Grammy in the Best Bluegrass Album category in 2011 for her Mountain Soul II. Her 2008 Sleepless Nights was also nominated for a Grammy Award.
